Media Borough Council Reorganization Meeting, January 3rd, 2012

Jan 06

Executive Summary

The purpose of this meeting was to swear in the newly elected officials, myself (Kent Davidson), Brian Hall, and Paul Robinson. In addition, we appoint borough professionals and boards and commissions.

In general there were no major surprises at the meeting. Sadly, Jeff Deitch was no longer able to be Treasurer for personal reasons, however, I am pleased that former councilman Peter Williamson agreed to take on that task. Otherwise, the changes which affect residents are:

  • Brian Hall is your new president. And we are glad he’s taken on this task. Monica Simpson will serve as Vice President, and we’ve re-animated an older role “Chairperson Pro-Tem” which is essentially the Vice Vice President, served by Dr. Eric Stein.
  • Legislative meetings (3rd Thursday each month) are now at 8:00 PM. The idea here was to give residents more time to get home from work with family, and if they wish to come to the meeting, 8PM seemed like it would accommodate more residents. In addition, for residents that watch the meetings on television, 8PM seemed like more of an “even time slot.”
  • We re-hired everyone again. The good news is that we have a great staff and we will continue to have a great staff this next year.

Good luck to everyone and thank you all for your service to the borough, regardless of party. It’s a noble effort to serve one’s community.
