How to fight the frackers? meeting in Swathmore, PA on March 28th, 2012

Mar 28

PRESS RELEASE – MEDIA, PA – In the wake of recent moves by the Commonweath’s General Assembly to greenlight gas drilling everywhere, residents of Southeast Pennsylvania are looking for new ways to protect the natural character of the greater portion of Pennsylvania. Clean Water Action will host a presentation and discussion for Media area residents on the next phase of the ongoing environmental campaign to reign in the natural gas drilling industry:

What: Shift the Frack Fight, a presentation by Brady Russell of Clean Water Action
When: Wednesday, March 28th 2012 at 7:00 PM
Where: Swarthmore Public Library, 121 Park Ave, Swarthmore, PA

Brady Russell, Eastern Pennsylvania State Director for Clean Water Action, will give a half-hour presentation about where state laws and regulations have come to and the next direction Clean Water Action believes the fight should be taken. An open discussion will follow. All are welcome.

Russell explains:

“The fracking fight has gone on for three years now and most of the energy has been directed at Harrisburg. We need to have a discussion about why it is time for a change in strategy, and where it makes the most sense to move the fight for public health next.”

Mr. Russell has 12 years organizing experience in multiple campaigns, including successful efforts to raise the minimum wage and hold key classes of wastewater to higher pollution removal standards.

All Media area residents are strongly encouraged to attend this important event and come prepared to share their own thoughts and ideas. It takes strong community support to fight back against polluters and the more people who get involved, the louder all of our voices become.
