Lou Tilley to Emcee Media Theatre Gala on Saturday, February 26th

The Media Theatre‘s annual fundraising Gala will be emceed Saturday February 26 by Lou Tilley. A part-time announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies radio broadcast, Tilley was the host and executive producer of Out of Bounds until 2007 on CN8, the Comcast Network. The show was seen in 45 million homes nationwide and won two Emmy Awards. He was the recipient of 4 previous Emmy Awards for Lou Tilley’s Sports Connection. Tilley is a sports anchor, reporter, and producer of multi-media.

The Media Theatre Gala will move Tilley’s focus for one evening from sports to music theatre, as Delaware County’s only professional music theatre celebrates its mission. Each year, The Media Theatre event includes two receptions and a special one-night-only concert performance. The concert this year features Patrick Ludt, who appeared as the lead in Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical and Rent at the Media Theatre. He will be joined by Elisa Matthews and Janet Rowley, both of Show Boat, and Peter Kriss who plays the lead in the upcoming The Who’s Tommy. Resident Music Director Tom Fosnocht will premiere a new piece he composed and members of the theatre’s New School will perform.

Prior to the concert the Walter M. Strine, Sr. Award for Consistent Advocacy of The Media Theatre will be given to Ree Dunphy of Villanova. The award has been established to be bestowed annually upon an individual or organization that has provided consistent support to The Media Theatre.

Ree Dunphy is the 2011 recipient due to her support of various shows including Master Class and Annie. She was also instrumental in various renovations of the theatre including the dressing rooms and lobby. “I appreciate the creativity and hard work Artistic Director Jesse Cline and his staff devote to the theatre,” she said. “It’s a non-profit organization which I believe in supporting.”

Ree Dunphy also gives much of her time to working with and supporting the Coaches Vs. Cancer program which is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Associaton of Basketball Coaches.
