Media Theatre showing “The Who’s Tommy” starting March 30th, 2011

The Who’s Tommy will have the Media Theatre rocking and rolling March 30th through May 22nd, 2011. The musical features hits from the legendary rock group The Who, including Pinball Wizard and See Me, Feel Me.

The Who’s Tommy is based on the legendary rock group’s classic concept album from 1969. The story focuses on a boy who is traumatized into catatonia. As an adolescent he discovers his uncanny knack for playing pinball, and when his mother finally breaks through his catatonic state, he becomes an international pinball superstar.

At the Media Theatre, the role of Tommy is played by Peter Kriss. From Boise, Idaho, Kriss now lives in New York City. He has performed with Opera Idaho, the Choral Arts Ensemble of Portlans, the Mocks Crest Opera Company and has been seen in several rock musicals including Footloose, Fame, and Rent. He studies at the Matthew Corozine Studio in Manhattan and performs with his improv group Zamboni!

Peter Kriss has also been seen in productions of Cabaret, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. He graduated from the University of Portland and holds degrees in Biology and Spanish.

This is the second revival of The Who’s Tommy at the Media Theatre, which originally produced the musical in 2005 to rave reviews and large audiences who packed the aisles to hear the classic songs by The Who set to a dramatic story-line. “This is the type of show people can see again and again,” said Jesse Cline, Aristic Director of the Media Theatre. “The music always feels fresh and the emotional impact is one that stays with audiences for weeks afterward.”
