PRESS RELEASE: Media, PA – High School Mascots “Bust Their Moves” at Huge Regional Pep Rally Kicking Off Shire’s Great Food Fight! Benefiting Philabundance.

  • When: Wednesday, February 8, 2:00 pm – 2:30 p.m.
  • Who: 22 high schools are participating in Shire’s Great Food Fight!:

With the need for food assistance up 26 percent since last year, more than 25,000 high school students from across Southeastern Pennsylvania are getting pumped to join forces and fight hunger. It’s the kickoff of Shire’s Great Food Fight! Benefiting Philabundance, a unique, region-wide community service competition. The goal: to collect 100 tons of food—the equivalent of 200,000 meals—in two weeks.

Twenty-two area schools are competing for prizes totaling $20,000. The ultimate prize: helping families in need across the Greater Philadelphia region.

What can you expect?

  • High school mascots grooving in the “Food Fight Slide” dance competition
  • Energetic performances by a high school dance team, marching band and cheerleaders
  • An estimated 200 high school students in cheering sections decorated in their school colors

Bucks County

  • Archbishop Wood High School
  • Holy Ghost Preparatory School

Chester County:

  • Center for Arts and Technology
  • Conestoga High School, and
  • Renaissance Academy

Montgomery County

  • Harriton High School
  • Lower Merion High School
  • Owen J. Roberts High School
  • Upper Moreland High School, and
  • One school that wants to remain anonymous.

Philadelphia County

  • Abraham Lincoln High School
  • Central High School
  • Charles Carroll High School
  • Delaware Valley Charter High School
  • Germantown Friends School
  • Germantown High School
  • Lankenau High School
  • Math and Science Technology Community Charter High School and
  • South Philadelphia High School
