3rd Street Project: Meeting March 5th at 7:00 PM

Feb 29

From the Borough Website:

The Third Street Dam Project Citizens Advisory Committee will sponsor a community meeting on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Center at the Media Borough Municipal Center, 301 N. Jackson Street, in Media. The purpose of the meeting is to inform the public about the options being considered by the Media Borough Council for addressing the damaged dam located at Third Street in Media and to solicit public comment on the project. All Media residents are encouraged to attend this important meeting. For those who cannot attend the meeting, the proceedings will be televised on Comcast Channel 10 and Verizon Channel 42.

Borough Council formed a Citizens Advisory Committee in January consisting of 9 members; and formed a Third Street Project subcommittee consisting of Paul Robinson, Chairman, and Dr. Eric Stein and Monika Rehoric as members.

The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC for short) has been meeting since then on Mondays at 6PM. You can read the Citizens Advisory Committee’s minutes and activities here. They have a short timeline and need to come up with a recommendation for Borough Council by April 1st, 2012.

I’ve attended parts of a few meetings and I have to say that they are very well organized and the time commitment this group has undertaken is laudable. They will be producing a survey of residents, are actively seeking input from the Media Business Authority, and have retained the borough engineer to answer questions about the various possibilities for the 3rd Street Dam.

I will recommend highly attending their meetings every Monday at 6PM at the 2nd floor conference room and voicing your opinions, and attending the community meeting on March 5th, 2012.

Democracy only works when you get involved.
