Wawa presented application to Planning Commission November 7th

Nov 09

I had the opportunity to attend the Planning Commission meeting this week on Wednesday and observe the presentation by Wawa. The Delaware County Times wrote a nice summary of what happened. In addition, Media Patch also has some very good reporting of the conversation among Planning Commission members and Wawa.

By my estimates, approximately 25 residents were in attendance (Patch reports 50) at the meeting, of which 15 spoke about the project. 8 residents spoke negatively about the project, two were neutral, and 5 were positive about the project.

The primary concerns are traffic and adherence to the zoning and character of Baltimore Pike.

Finally, it is important for residents to know that this project proposes that the Borough of Media vacate Baker Street, which runs through the center of the project. This issue means that Borough Council will have final say as to whether this project moves forward or not.

Borough Council has received more than 50 letters/emails regarding the project so far, many from residents, businesses, and members of the community that work in town.
